FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does the saw have teeth?

Yes, Mussehl & Westphal musical saws do have teeth, but they are not sharp like a standard hand saw. The teeth are engineered in a fashion that makes them dull and safe for handling. It is still important to exercise caution with your musical saw.

Does the saw have a hole for a cheat?

No, our musical saws do not have a hole for a traditional cheat. Cheats with a slit that fit over the end of the saw can still be used with our saws without compromising the integrity of the blade.

What is the range of the musical saw?

The Mussehl & Westphal tenor saw is capable of producing music over two octaves of range, spanning from Ab below middle C to F above high C.

How do I care for my saw?

The blade can be gently cleaned with any mild metal cleaning product. After cleaning, the blade should be thoroughly dried and protected with a polish. Remember to use rosin on the playing edge to promote easy stroking; it is best not to keep the playing edge too clean.
